Shinta Mani Wild occupies a pristine 865-acre river valley on the southern border of the Cardamom National Forest. Some of Cambodia’s and the world’s most endangered species still call the Cardamom Mountains home, including 54 animals on the IUCN Red List. As the forest cover disappears, so does the wildlife. It will take major conservancy of the evergreen forest for these fabulous residents to thrive again, but that is the goal at Shinta Mani Wild. Your stay makes a real difference in protecting unique and endangered species in this private nature sanctuary. Set along 1.5 kilometres of river and waterfalls, it's the perfect tented basecamp for adventure activities.

CONSERVATION

Shinta Mani Wild is actively involved in anti-poaching efforts, overseeing a 32,000-hectare area preventing wildlife capture, logging, and illegal activities. Their comprehensive environmental policy sets clear goals for minimising biodiversity impact.

Construction has been carried out to limit disruption to natural ecosystems, and ongoing initiatives include reducing energy consumption and implementing a waste management system with recycling, composting, zero-waste campaign, and own water bottling.

COMMUNITY

Maintains 70% of the staff from the neighbouring village.

Actively raises environmental awareness and drives education through the Shinta Mani Foundation. This non-profit organization is dedicated to uplifting individuals through a variety of initiatives encompassing education, healthcare, small business development, and environmental preservation (including the team of forest rangers at Wild).

COMMERCE

The Shinta Mani Wild Foundation receives 100% of the proceeds from the artwork of Co-founder Bill Bensley, showcasing the Cardamom Mountains and its wildlife. Since 2003, its School of Hospitality has graduated nearly 300 citizens, funded the construction of 1,755 water wells and 123 homes, and nearly 15,000 health check-ups for children.

Deep in the jungle, nature is the ultimate supplier of the ingredients. Vegetables are grown and laying hens raised on their on-site farm and chefs forage even more from the forest: herbs, mangosteens, wild potatoes, crabs — even red ants, a zesty local delicacy. From flaky morning pastries and picnic lunches by the waterfall to multi-course dinners, it’s all fresh, seasonal — and included! So are unlimited cocktails, fine wines, and imported beers.

Zip Line Arrival -Not your average check-in experience: Set the tone for your Wild adventure by clipping into a 400-meter (1,300-foot) zipline and flying over trees and past waterfalls. We’ll have your favorite cocktail ready when you land.
Expedition Boats - Explore the secret backwaters, scenic rice fields, and golden sand beaches of the upper Srey Ambel Estuary on our custom-designed expedition pontoon, equipped with a full bar, daybeds, toilet, and a top deck with sun loungers. Your Bensley Butler will point out the vivid birdlife, and knows which mangrove-lined channels are best for exploring by kayak, and where to set up a picnic in the wilderness.
Anti-Poaching Patrols. Guests can have the eye-opening experience of joining the rangers on motorbikes for 2-6 hours (depending on your stamina) as they survey and protect the resort’s 350-hectares (865 acres) to ensure the sanctity of this precious habitat. You might help them dismantle a homemade trap - or even rescue and release an animal caught in a snare.
Khmer Tonics Spa. There is no better route to wellness than to surround oneself with nature. Our signature Khmer Tonics spa has two treatment rooms nestled amid giant natural rocks in the forest canopy. You can also enjoy a river-stone foot massage while soaking in a waterfall pool, or have therapists visit your tent for a treatment on the balcony, with the river rushing below. All treatments are on us — as many as you want!
