Condor Valley

Estancia & Winery

Since december 2017

Condor Valley is a biodiverse landscape in northwest Argentina. Already home to an estate and winery, it’s an evolving 4C destination, currently working in partnership with a luxury glamping company to create conservation-oriented, low-impact lodging and hopes to offer weekly expeditions on foot, horseback or rafting on the Juramento River to guests.

The property, spanning over 25,000 hectares and formerly a historic cattle ranch, now resembles a private National Park. Less than 100 hectares are dedicated to vineyards, nut plantations, and cattle and sheep farming. A small herd of cattle supports a team of gauchos, providing them with employment. The property has successfully developed three hectares of vineyards in a new Viticultural Area, irrigated by gravity-fed spring water, and features a solar-powered winery with an annual output of around 20,000 bottles of red wine. Additionally, the entire property operates off-grid and is fully powered by solar energy.

CONSERVATION

A dozen camera traps have been installed in the Tipal area.

Reduction of cattle herd to 130 from historic levels.

COMMUNITY

80% of staff commute from nearby towns where their children go to school and their families live.

Whilst preserving a ranching and soft gaucho aspect, they have transitioned many workers into vineyard, winery, and orchard jobs.

CULTURE

Preservation of the gaucho culture and local ceremonies.

Traditional archaeological aspects of the property are left completely untouched.

COMMERCE

Deloped low-impact, off-grid wine production. Bottles are sold in Argentina, and are beginning to be exported to the USA.

As well as selling calves to neighbouring communities, they have just launched walnut production.
